The Student of Fire Initiative provides wildland fire practitioners of all kinds with high quality, evidence-based training and ongoing evaluation of learning outcome. We deliver the skills, mentorship and support systems that prepare resilient wildland fire professionals, setting the standard for high quality training programs.

Our Priorities

Provide access to high quality training and workforce development opportunities for students, wildland fire professionals, and private landowners.
Assess training effectiveness, share outcomes broadly and apply lessons learned to ensure training brings real world impact.
Identify and coordinate actionable research priorities with agencies, practitioners, and communities to address growing need for wildland fire training.
Collaborate with agencies, cadres, practitioners and other stakeholders to coordinate training and evaluation for their specific group.
